KMGH-TV, also known as Denver7 News, is a CBS-affiliated television station located in Denver, Colorado, USA. Serving the Denver metropolitan area, it broadcasts primarily news and information. The station is owned and operated by Tegna Inc., a national multimedia company and the 9th largest broadcast group in the United States. It is headquartered in the Denver Tech Center and its transmitter is located atop Lookout Mountain, near Golden, Colorado.

KMGH-TV first signed on the air on December 17, 1952 as KFEL-TV channel 9. The station was founded by C. Robert Gaines, owner of radio station KFEL (950 AM, today KKFN), and was associated with the Denver-area National Broadcasting Company owned by Mr. Gaines. KFEL-TV was the first VHF station in Denver, and only the third television station in the state of Colorado.

KFEL-TV quickly became a highly successful station, and in 1955, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted a waiver to allow the station to change its call letters to KMGH, inspired by C. Robert Gaines’ initials (Martin Lowery Gaines). By 1956, the station was broadcasting in color and in 1957, kmgh-TV became a full-fledged CBS affiliate. In 1965, the station was sold to a consortium of Denver investors and was renamed the RM Broadcasting Corporation. In 1972, the station was sold again and its call letters were changed to KUSA-TV.

KMGH-TV produces over 30 hours of local news programming each week, including the primetime show Denver7 News at 9 on weeknights and Denver7 News at 10 on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to local news, the station also airs national news from CBS News and syndicated entertainment programming. They also broadcast college sports, including the NFL’s Denver Broncos and Colorado Buffaloes, NCAA basketball and the NFL Network.

KMGH-TV’s digital signal is multiplexed, with four subchannels. CBSDenver.com provides local news, entertainment, weather and traffic coverage as well as other local programming. The subchannel Cozi TV airs classic television series, while the classic movie channel Movies! offers a selection of feature films. Finally, Decades airs a variety of classic television shows and films.

KMGH-TV’s website, CBSDenver.com, offers streaming video, interactive news, and other digital news content such as podcasting. In addition, the station produces a wide range of programs and documentaries such as Denver7 Investigates, Mind Bender and Colorado Getaways.
